I still believe that youth ministry has failed.

So what is new with youth ministry?
I still see the same old "tricks" and the kids getting no treats...
Youth pastors are being fired because they need to work second jobs, pastors are still arogant and kids are the losers in all of this....
sad...

Does Re-thinking Youth Ministry have to do with re-doing youth ministry?
I think it isn't so much rethinking as it is getting people positioned to do what God would have them do? Perhaps it is more about redoing and rethinking Church?

Came across via
My blog about more and more people trying to Re-imagine Youth Ministry. At least people are getting that youth ministry isn't all about Fun and Games.

From
Mark Riddle's blogYesterday I was visiting with a Senior Pastor and Youth Pastor of a church here in a small town in Oklahoma. I am coaching them and will be working with them to train some of their youth workers. These folks desire to be church B. They have a missional approach to ministry that to some feels less flashy than the average youth ministry.
So the youth pastor (let's call him Nate) was talking to the youth pastor down the street, who is in his 50's. As Nate was describing his ministry to this older youth pastor this is what the other youth pastor said to him.
"You send me your kids who want to have fun and I'll send you my kids who want to learn."
